Boys Birthday Pressy.. Circus time :)

I try to make presents rather than go out and buy plastic cheap crap that will last a week, so for a little boy turning 3 I made a circus outfit..
I made these shorts last week after finding this gorgeous circus fabric from Spotty, then appliquéd a plain yellow T.. I think the out fit looks great aside from the issues I had with the appliqué...hmmm


The applique goes from the front around to the back..
note to self- avoid appliqué on the sleeve of an already constructed garment!! duh...

Goodies

I found some goody mushroom goodness from spotlight today.. and some cute circus fabric.. there was so much yummy stuff that I want but I think maybe I should make to sell some stuff so I can go buy more..haha

Grocery Bag

Grocery bags I think are going to be on my christmas list, I think these are better than the green bags, aside from being more enviro friendly they are space economical too.. :)

Gorgeous and grown up is my big girl... I was going through the school newsletter today and have to fill in her book list for next year and it only just hit that she is going to be in grade 3 next year... OMG!!

I remember being in grade 3, I met people I am still so close with... I might hunt down some old pics when I go to mum and dads next..

Quinn has been growing so much that all his jumpers are too short for him and I have been wanting to make this little Otto pattern for ages...very cute!

Learning to sew.. :)

My big girl has been asking me to learn how to sew but it is usually when I am in the middle of something..typical! lol
Anyhoo after I finished making my bag the other night I thought I would start by getting her to sew on a scrap to get used to it and use back stitch etc... Ahh such a proud moment!

Next I think we will make a bag or cushion but I will get her to cut the fabric and start from scratch...and not at 7.30 pm....

Don't look at the chaos, you can tell when I have been sewing, my table looks like a bomb has gone off...so does the house actually!

Added Button

I found a button that had came off one of my fake fur jackets that I haven't worn for years, in fact I think the jacket is still in a box from the last move so when I find it I will take the other button off it for the other side of the bag!! I think the button sets the bag off nice, it now feels more finished..

I had a few issues with the destructions but I think it was all me.. haha

My day...WHOA

What a day I had!!!
I got up this morning and wrote out a cover letter for the Australian Defence Apparel while I had coffee and emailed it off to my mums work for her to proof it, hopped in the shower got all fluffed up, even put eyeliner and mascara on !!
Felt really confident leaving the house and as I was unlocking the flywire door with an arm full of bits I started to drop them and as I caught them my plastic folder that had my resume in it came up and straight into my open eyeball....MY GOD it hurt and I have a scratch across it, so after cursing crying cursing some more screaming the universe is against me getting a job we go to... hmm well emergency is the only place in bendigo with the eye machine!! whats with that... so off to emergency and it is PACKED even the ambulances were parked across the road because there were 6 in the bays and a taxi already...far out mondays aye the grog has worn off and people have just realised how hurt they are from their weekend!! the nurse said mondays are the worst day!!
After about an hour with a 2 year old and me finally being able to open my eye I spoke to the nurse and she said I wont be seen at this rate till 9pm (it was midday)... So I said I will go in tomorrow and get it checked to make sure it wont get infected and all that lovely eye stuff.. so off we trot to mums work and get the letter app printed and off we go to ADA to be told this is ADI and ADA havent been there for 10 yrs WTF!!! where have I been... hmmm
I wish I had google maps on my phone... the man was lovely and found me a map and ADA is around the corner from my house DUH I am really feeling like a doofus at this stage of the day but staying strong...... finally off to ADA hand my bits in and finally get home feeling like I have had a f**ktard of a day and being miserable.
Then less than an hour the phone rings asking me to go in for a machine test... PHEW all goood...
what a rant!!!
ANyhoo I hope I get this job, its 6 pm till 11 pm on a 9 day fortnight, great with the kids I don't need childcare and when I have both kids at school I can figure out what I'm gonna do when I grow up!!

Crazy op shop fabric

I'm still not sure about this fabric, it gives me flash backs of happy pants!!


It was $2.50 for 2 mtrs and there were 2 lots so I had 4 mtrs to put to jimjam use.. I used one of my mums old long sleeve T's as the ribbing, her tops are usually still in great nick to re-use into other stuff..

I have made another two pairs for some other little fellas that are the same age as Quinn.. :)

So what horrible flash backs do you get when you look at this fabric..? haha

I think they are cute anyhoo.. I am a really bad photographer but thats ok I sew not take photos for hobby.. haha thank goodness!!
This is out of another Ottobre magazine, 1/08 I think.
I love the way they turned out although I really have to learn to read the destructions because I seem to get ahead of myself and miss important steps..LOL never mind only a little bit of unpicking.
While I was outside taking really bad shots I had a baby magpie come and say hello, there is a mum and two babies that come in everyday to see if there is any cat food left in the bowl but since Obar the staffy figured out he could jump onto the table the cat is lucky to even get some..poor Mishka!!

Owl Softie

I have finally made a softie, I had drawn up ideas months ago but hadn't found the motivation to make one until now..
So instead of doing house work and while Quinn duded about NOT sleeping I managed to get this done.. I think I need to put more stuffing in tho!!

Grumpy hour!

Arrggg I hope Mr 2 stays down for a snooze today, he has grumpy hours, usually 1pm, 3pm and 5pm since he has started to cut out day sleeps.
I have managed to convince him to go to bed for awhile but I am waiting for the foot steps to tell me I was kidding my self!
I cant go out the front and weed my garden because I don't have a fence to keep the child in and I have a busy road and a reservoir across from us. My front yard looks like a botanical garden of weeds and my roses are shriveled it is depressing.. I need a week of day sleeps from Quinn so I can weed the front and clean the house with out the whirlwind affect behind me. I have forgotten what it is like to clean something and for it to stay like that for a wee while.......here come the footsteps.. bye blogger off to amuse the gorgeous tired tanty 2 year old..

Girly Skulls :)

I love pink and black together on girls, I have wanted to make this for awhile but haven't because I don't have a little, little girl, Taegan is growing out of the cutesy sizes.. But one of Dons friends is in love with the skull knit and has been asking me to make something for his little girl for months, so I hope he likes it!!
I managed to find a stray battery lying around to swap with one in the camera, I managed to get 2 extra pics..LOL yes people I still haven't got batteries..I cant even manage to get everything that I put on a shopping list let alone remember to put things on the darn list!!

I finally finished Daisy's(Taegan's cousin) little Otto outfit.
Quinn before he had a hair cut looks so pretty as a model.. haha Don didn't think so, he made him a sign.. :p


Taegan got a pettiskirt as part of her birthday present, she also got her ears pierced, she has been asking me for years and I finally agreed.. :o
Some little Otto shorts, these are a great little pattern and look cute as on, I think Quinn will be getting more of these for summer.. :)

October already!

Wow time flies... It has been 2 months since my last blog.. maybe I should change the name of my blog from stuff doer to slack blogger..!

The kids and dog have grown heaps, I need to buy Obar a new collar he has filled out so much the little boof, he is nearly 5 months old.


Quinn had an accident with his sisters bedroom door and nearly lost the end of his finger..ewww
And I have been doing stuff and have pics to prove it, some arent so good because I have ran out of batteries and had to use my phone.
